Slack: A Black Light Party Done Right
When San Francisco based productivity app Slack opened an office in Denver in 2019, the Colorado tech community celebrated its arrival. One of the fastest growing startups in history, Slack threw a black light theme party to celebrate it’s 6th Anniversary this January. We have shared photos from their party below, along with suggestions on how to rock any black light party!
Incredible thanks to From the Hip Photo and TGE Events for coming up with this awesome party and photos. Aerialists by Ignight Entertainment. Thank you to Space Gallery for the modern venue!
Delightful Elements of Surprise
When you celebrate your guests, everyone feels appreciated. Slack’s party started off with delightful, live cocktail hour entertainment with a string quartet. Modular seating areas echoed the company’s headquarters with quirky, fun lighting. Having places for your guests to relax while they mingle and eat is essential for slowly building the energy of the event throughout the night. This event started with the house lights on, with guests dressed in white, preparing for a moment of transformation (shared below!)
Black Lights in a New Light
A black light looks dark purple, but most of the light it emits is in the ultraviolet (UV) range of the spectrum, which is invisible to the human eye. The bright glow is seen when the light touches items with phosphor, which readmits the light as the “black light” that we are excited to see at parties! At this event, hand held black lights accented drinks, and guests were encouraged to bring the lights with them around the room to activate face paint, specially designed snacks, and the dance floor. Black lights were also hung vertically over the dance floor, which created a unique vibe.
Create a Moment of Transformation
Excellent events build energy throughout the night. Key moments are highlighted by changes in lighting, music, and performances. As the Slack party shifted from white light to black light, our aerialists rocked their art, dancing in the air with outfits designed for black light parties!
