How to Choose the Size for your Dance Floor Rental

One of the top event questions we hear is: How big should my dance floor be?

The best answer depends on three key factors:

  • Layout: How the floor fits into your event space.

  • Guest Count: How many people are invited, and how many are likely to dance.

  • Budget: Dance floor rental costs scale with size, but larger floors also deliver a lit experience.

Q: How big should a dance floor be for 100 guests?
A: If about 50% of guests dance (~50 people), a 16’ x 16’ dance floor works well. If 75% of guests dance (~75 people), go with an 18’ x 18’.

Q: What size dance floor for 150 guests?
A: For 50% dancing (~75 people), choose an 18’ x 18’. For 75% dancing (~110 people), go up to a 20’ x 20’.

Q: What size dance floor for 200 guests?
A: With 50% dancing (~100 people), we recommend a 20’ x 20’. With 75% dancing (~150 people), step up to a 22’ x 22’.

Q: What if I have more than 200 guests?
A: For large weddings or corporate events with 250+ guests, we suggest a 30’ x 30’ dance floor to give everyone space and create a big visual impact.

Tips for Choosing the Perfect Dance Floor

  • Know Your Crowd: A lively, dance-loving group? Go larger. A more reserved crowd? A smaller floor may work.

  • Think About Placement: Keep the floor right in front of the DJ booth for maximum immersion.

  • Go Bigger for LED Floors: Larger LED setups create more visual impact and encourage more guests to join in.

  • Balance the Room: Too small will look odd: anything less than 16x16’ is best for private events under 40 guests in our experience.

  • Value, Value, Value: Our dance floors all sync with our DJ gear, which means the show goes live to the music. Not only will your dance floor look amazing, it will sound amazing, too. Check our roster out to see more about our owner-run DJ team >>>
